Micro publishing in Action

www.singersiddur.com

Last night my Mother-in-Law showed me the above site, run by a close friend of hers, which allows you to create and publish your own Jewish prayer books for different occassions. Examples include benchers, Bar Mitzvah books and Haggadot.

Not only do you get to customize the pages with family photos and personal desings, but you also get to choose which prayers and translations should be included. In other words, you get to play book editor.

I think this is a great example of micro publishing, as your book may have a mere 40 copies produced from it.

To me it's an excellent sign that non-geeks are catching onto this power.
