Excellent question! It's more or less...Steve -

Excellent question! It's more or less explained here.

But, the short answer is that Jews are sensitive about writing (and erasing) the name of G-d. So, using a - means you're not writing out the name.

To my knowledge, both the English spelling G-o-d and it's presence on screen are examples of not actually writing the name of G-d. But, as a nod to the concept, and because it makes me feel a little more comfortable, I use the abbreviation.

In other words, it would be fine to write God. I just usually don't :-).Ben Simonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09833753747177544979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12753102.post-41072647424475468362011-06-28T22:34:41.415-04:002011-06-28T22:34:41.415-04:00Congrats, by the way :)Congrats, by the way :)Steve Hornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11799829988971859359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12753102.post-10663849186375224472011-06-28T22:34:18.466-04:002011-06-28T22:34:18.466-04:00Ok, I have to bite.
