Tybee Island Adventure, Day 0

[Composed 7/29/2021]

Today was all about staging ourselves in Jacksonville, Florida so tomorrow we can drive around the state to collect up kids and then make our way to Georgia's coast for a week of beach-house fun.

Our flight to Jacksonville was easy, and picking up A and J at camp was a massive treat. Then it was off to a tasty dinner at Junior's Seafood Restaurant & Grill, an authentic Southern seafood place that has a mere 1,839 reviews on Google.

We called it a night relatively early so that Shira and I could hit a local Publix to start buying supplies for the week. In a move that felt like classic Florida, we got to the check-out counter and asked if they had any reusable bags for sale. The clerk had no idea, asked around, and the final verdict was no. So we walked out of the store with what felt like 50 plastic bags. I can't see that ever happening in Northern Virginia.

Shira's driving the massive GMC Yukon that we rented like an old pro. This thing is huge, and yet, I can't imagine how we're going to fit 5 kids, their luggage and a week's worth of food in it at once. But tomorrow we're going to find out.

Wish us luck!
