The Origin of Arlington's (Future) Black Rabbit Population

In Arlington we have a population of Black Squirrels which shouldn't really be here. We also have a large population of bunny rabbits in the area. So imagine my surprise when I looked out my window and saw this guy:

At first I wasn't sure what I was looking at: a racoon (saw one during the day over the weekend)? Black cat? Some sort of mutant mini kangaroo? (Oooh, how I hoped it was the latter). Nope, it was a black rabbit.

Upon further inspection, I realized it wasn't a wild rabbit, but was the pet rabbit of one of town home that borders our back property line. I could see the cage that it had been let out of.

So yeah, this isn't some remarkable wildlife sighting. But, when you start seeing little black baby bunny rabbits running around, I do believe we'll have our explanation of where they came from. Cause if rabbits have a reputation for one thing...
