A Political Statement 142 Years in the Making

A recent run took me to the entrance of the Trump Hotel in DC. Here's a pic of the facade, and the statue of Benjamin Franklin that stands in front of it:

Franklin and Trump. There's a lot to unpack there. Here's one bit of trivia that I found most biting:

This statute of Benjamin Franklin now stands in front of the Old Post Office Pavilion on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC. Words carved into the pedestal of the statue read:

Presented to the National Capital

And who is Stilson Hutchins? None other than the founder of the Washington Post, a paper Trump likes to rail against.

That's legendary trolling, no?
