Tweeting the Omer - A chance for some bite size Torah study

A few of us at my shul are spicing up the Counting of the Omer by sending out the daily count over Twitter. What's more, along with the count, we'll be including a twitter'zied version of Perkei Avot. In other words, it's a super easy way to get a little dose of Jewish wisdom/study right to your cell phone (or e-mail or RSS reading - no Twitter account required).

Here's the announcement as it was sent out to our members:

Jewish Wisdom Right to Your Cell Phone (or Inbox)

Ever wondered what Counting of the Omer means? Do you wish we celebrated the Shavuot holiday with a bigger bang? Unbeknown to most, it's a mitzvah to count the 49 days between Passover and Shavuot. This year, doing this mitzvah can't get any easier. Join us in counting the omer with 49 verses of Pirkei Avot in 49 Tweets straight to your cell phones and inboxes, and infuse a little bit of Jewish learning between Passover and Shavuot holidays.

Simply sign up by texting follow omerlearning to the phone number 40404. Other ways to follow (including e-mail) can be found at www.etzhayim.net. What's more? This daily omer learning will culminate in a recap over ice cream on Shavuot. Sweet!

You can learn more here.

I hope you'll follow along. And whether you do, or don't, I wish you a happy, and healthy Passover and Omer Counting season.
