Theodore Roosevelt Island - The Perfect Morning Oasis

They are calling for a hot and humid day, with thunderstorms in the afternoon. Which meant, if I wanted to get out of the house today with the little guy, it was going to have to happen first thing in the morning.

So, we jumped in the car and in a few minutes arrived at Theodore Roosevelt Island. We walked the perimeter of it in about 30 (or was it 45?) minutes.

I just love TR Island -- it's so calm, peaceful, and with perfect shade from the morning sun. You can get that wilderness hike feel, without actually having to go into the wilderness.

See, it was the perfect day to get outside:

Here's the Moby-eye-view of the trail.

  1. you should give 'runkeeper' a try on your G1... like Google's MyTrack's app, but more.... it will also automatically post to your facebook and/or twitter accounts. This way you can keep accurate record of your walk/run/hiking/outing (even has downhill skiing). Under the 'other' category you could track your 'moby' equipped adventures.

That said, I'm glad someone (or two) were able to enjoy this morning weather

  2. Hey Nick -

Thanks for the tip. I've been on my super-lean software only kick on my G1. But, when I'm ready to expand things a bit, I'll have to give runkeeper a try.

  3. I forgot that you are running an un-modded G1. That would make the upgrade to the Slide a huge benefit. The added space for apps is a must. My G1 is rooted and I'm running my apps off the SD so I have plenty of space, but it would be nice not to need it. Also the LED flash for the camera will be nice for quick photo taking. Also the other change I like on the new Slide is the 3.5mm audio/mic jack. If you decide to upgrade I look forward to seeing it in person. I'm actually slowly rethinking my decision... potentially if no new 'enterprise' level physical keyboard phone comes out on TMo before 2.2 is release or the end of the summer, I may spring for the Slide myself.
